Recently I have researched The Effects on Social Networking. Social networking sites like Face book and MySpace allow you to find and connect with just about anyone, from a coworker in a neighboring cube to the girl who played Emily in your high school production of "Our Town" thirty years ago. Browsing these sites can make you feel connected to a larger community, but such easy, casual connection in an electronic environment can also have its downside.
Social media has actually had quite the opposite effect. Rather than disrupting our social and interpersonal skills, social media appear to magnify our existing social behaviors. If you tend to be socially isolated in the offline world, spending a lot of time online can do that. But the opposite is also true — if you tend to be a social butterfly in the offline world, social media can help you cultivate those connections. Recent research suggests that social media users tend to have larger social circles and more close social ties than non-users. They are also more likely to perceive their networks as socially supportive and more likely to be politically engaged than non-users. So,concerns that people who use social media are somehow limiting their abilities to make real interpersonal connections, the research suggests that social media can catalyze close, supportive, civically engaged relationships. -

I have a morning routine on my phone like you do too! It's amazing how dependent we are on our technological devices.
ReplyDeleteI always leave my phone places! I forget it all the time. I try not to be too dependent on technology.
ReplyDeleteI like facebook because it keeps me in touch with my husband's family that lives in California and Oklahoma and other parts of the world. I am also able to keep up with my friends that I worked with which I do not get to see now that I am no longer working with them. As you said Gagen it is nice keeping in touch with friends and It will be a useful tool when we become teachers. We will be able to keep up with our students parents and other teachers who maybe helpful in our profession.
