Web 2.0 Tools
I have chosen 10 web tools that I think would
benefit in my classroom.
1. Jitterbug
is a music tool. Jitterbug connects your kids to a world of handpicked
family-friendly music videos and albums, streaming on demand to your ipad
and computer. Jitterbug delivers top quality music and videos for only
3.99 a month. I would use it by expressing music to the children, and by
helping them learn different sounds.
2. Pencil
is an animation/drawing software for Mac OS X, Windows, and Linux. It
lets you create traditional hand-drawn animation (cartoon) using both bitmap
and vector graphics. Pencil is free and open source. I would use this in my
classroom to help kids express themselves, and to learn technology better.
3. Edheads
is an online educational resource that provides free science and math games and
activities that promote critical thinking. Choose from Simple Machines, and so
much more! This would be a great thing to have in my classroom because it gives
the kids more than one way to learn. It also would cover more than one subject.
4. Snapfish
is a online website where you can create calendars, mugs, personal
photos and so much more! Snapfish is cheap and fast.Overall, Snapfish sent
the best images. Its prints all had good exposure, contrast, and detail. This
would be great in my classroom to create a bulletin board. Or have my students
make something for their mom and dad.
5. Mapskip
is a website where it maps out places and such and tells stories about it.
It shares stories and ancient history to places you may want to visit! Its
great for people who doesn't know anyone who has been to a place they want to
go but need info. I would use this in my classroom to show my students all the
countries in the world and tell them a story and compare cultures. I think they
would enjoy to see pictures and realize all the people in the world are truly
different.
6.Gymnasium
for brain is website that has been developed to sharpen
the brain and the ability to think outside the box. The publisher
recommends at least one puzzle a day for the kids, This site is also
dedicated to the wellness of the mind. I would use this in my classroom as a
morning activity to get the kids up and going. I think the kids would love it
because its not boing work.
7. Student
Publishing is a website where students can come in and create a 12 page
book, that includes a title page, and dedication about the author. Stories can
be illustrated and authored online, or completed stories can be uploaded… or
included pages from both! Other online tools are offered. This would be a fun
project to do with my students. This would give them technology skills and also
practice in writing.
8. Tux
Paint is a program for ages 3-12. Tux Paint is used in schools around
the world as a computer literacy drawing activity. The kids have a blank canvas
and are encouraged to express their creativity. I would use this in my classroom
for stories, after they read a book they can come up and draw what they
imagined during the story. This would give them good technology practice and
also creativity skills.
9.
Chirbit is a useful fun tool that enables you to record and upload
your audio. Record your voice by using microphone or webcam. You can share them
on twiiter, facebook, and blog! This would be cool in my classroom to maybe
record a book, or maybe even a lesson plan. The students can practice listening
and not relying on someone to always be there to tell them.
10. DOGO
Media is a next-generation online network empowering kids to engage with
digital media in a fun, safe and social environment.“DOGO” means young or small
in Swahili. DOGO is a website that allows kids to research a reliable and safe
source for her grammar school children to use for current events assignments. I
would use this in my classroom by giving my students a topic and having them
turn in a 1 page paper about that topic. This would be great for their
technology skills.
Cagan, these are all good things to use in a classroom. They can work for any age. This was an interesting assignment. It is great to find tools that we can use when we start teaching.
